A Rare Suprise

On our way home from an wonderful birding trip to Salmon Arm, we stopped at a good birding spot in Nakusp, where we observed a large flock of gulls (California, Herring, and a couple Ring-billed). As we were heading back to the car, we were surprised to see a flock of migrating Common Terns fly by then circle back for photos.

While we were watching the terns, a sparrow caught my eye. As soon as I saw it I thought LARK SPARROW! It flew over a bank and I searched for it until I got much better views and photos. It was indeed a Lark Sparrow! A great way to end a great trip.
